Snatam Kaur deepened her spiritual path through an immersion in sacred sound in India, where she was drawn to the devotional tradition of kirtan. Living and studying within a spiritual community, she engaged in chanting, service and teaching, allowing her practice to become an integral part of daily life. Her time in Amritsar, near the Golden Temple, placed her in constant contact with sacred music, where the continuous flow of devotional sound shaped her awareness and connection to what is often described as the Sound Current.

Under the guidance of the respected kirtan teacher Bhai Hari Singh, she refined not only her musical ability but also the deeper qualities of presence, devotion and inner stillness. These teachings became central to her path, influencing her expression of music as a form of meditation and spiritual connection. On returning to the United States, she carried this experience into her work, sharing sacred chant as a way of fostering peace, awareness and a deeper sense of unity.
